Hadrian's Wall

Spanning 73 miles across the breadth of the North of England, passing through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country, significant portions of the ancient Hadrian's Wall remain to this day. Starting at Segedunum Roman Fort, in Wallsend (to the East of Newcastle) the path of the World Heritage Site stretches across the country to Bowness-On-Solway.

Three museums on Tyneside (Segedunum Roman Fort, Arbeia Roman Fort and the Great North Museum: Hancock) tell the story of the Wall through extensive displays of artefacts and full-scale reconstructions.

We have a variety of products for Roman enthusiasts and those taking on the challenge of walking the length of the Wall. You'll find several items exclusive to Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.
