On the right of this view is the Exchange building with its domed roof. The Continental Restaurant is in front of it. The blue-white globes of electric light contrast with the soft yellow light of gas street lamps and shop lighting. The damp surfaces magnify the light, and reflections glitter from the wet ground. City views lit by moonlight and lamplight were the speciality of Louis Grimshaw, who mostly painted in London
